I usually use a bigger barrel curling iron or something on my hair.

you should tey getting a curler that has different size barrells that you can clip on. Only because you say your hair is thick.. It would be easier to use the bigger barrell first then finish off with a small barrell.

Try getting a relaxer or conditioning treatment to calm the thickness down.

get a relaxer in CURLS its simple at the salon about 60 dollars you hair will be light not thick anymore and be curly i just got mine done and it feels soo goood but a tip when you get a relaxer donn't but straightners, or curling irons it will DAMAGE hair and break.so good luck
