You know your baby's head is still soft. Her hair will change as she gets older. Don't damage your babies head like that.

People keep telling me to shave my 6mth old baby"s head,so her hair goes thick..has anyone done this before?
It's a myth. Do not shave her head. When hair grows back it only appears thicker for a short while because it will be darker (due to not being exposed to the sun) and because it will all be one length. Then after awhile it will go back to being as thin as it was before you shaved it. Her hair will get thicker on it's own, when it's supposed to.
People keep telling me to shave my 6mth old baby"s head,so her hair goes thick..has anyone done this before?
leave her hair alone .it will grow in its own time have never ever heard of anyone shaving a babys head, think thats nasty and might hurt her little head ,ignore them and dont take any advice from these people .sound mad

It's a myth. It's genetics that determines the thickness, not whether you shave her head or not. So for godsakes, leave her hair alone and stop listening to those morons!
People keep telling me to shave my 6mth old baby"s head,so her hair goes thick..has anyone done this before?
how silly is that. No, shaving your babies head is not going to make her hair thicker.
Your baby will grow the hair she's supposed to have naturally. If you shave her head, she will only look funny. Patience, their hair eventually grows in by itself. Some babies just take longer than others.

Now why would you do that? If someone told you to shave all your hair off would you.
Your baby's hair will come through thicker as she grows older. Don't always listen to everything that your told.
Poor baby :o(

this is the stupidest thing i have ever heard. i am a cosmetologist, so i will tell you right now, SHAVING HAIR DOES NOT MAKE IT THIICKER. Hair is only as thick as it is going to be based on genetics. when you shave ANY part of your body, you hair NEVER comes back thicker. it may sometimes appear thicker, but that is only because the ends are more blunt, than they usually are. so, here it is PLEASE DO NOT shave your babies head. it WILL NOT make her hair thicker and you could cut your baby, and cause an infection. Also, she is only 6 months old, right? you can not tell how thick her hair is going to be at 6 months

Babies loose there hair anyway, when really young you may notice when you pick your baby up after a nights sleep there is hair on the sheet. Babies hair thickens up on its own and everything changes and grows with your baby. Dont use hair toggle or bands too early, you will find a lot of hair gets pulled out, just give your daughters hair the chance to find itself and im sure she will have lovely hair..

Actually, people of the Indian/Hindu culture do it. I read it in a parents magazine not too long ago. I cant remember why though. Personally, unless it is not part of your culture,I would not do it.

No dont do that, my son looked like a bald egg until he was just over one (he has light blonde hair), but now he needs haircuts all the time.
Most babys at 6mths dont have a lot of hair. It'll grow, and the people telling you that are idiots.

Does the way she looks bother you or them? Tell them to show you by shaving their own head and seeing if it grows back thick...lol.
Seriously, dont do that to your baby. My daughter had super fine hair as a baby. Were talking cute baby eagle peach fuzz...lol. At about 13mos it started getting thicker and now she is 18mos and has two pigtails with thicker hair. My other daughter was the same, she is three and I have to cur it about every 3 weeks because it grows past her shoulders so fast....and it is suuuuper thick like mine.
Your sweetie will get that thick hair soon enough, you dont need to mess with her hair now.
:-)

absolutely not. my son had his first short back and sides (been trimmed previously with just scissors) and is three and only then at his age did she suggest using clippers to thicken it up. at 6 mths your child is still developing. take no notice of that. i also have girls and they had their first cut at around 3 also.

Please don't do it. I have a sister in law that is a hillbilly idiot. ( yes, we are embarrassed) She actually did this to her daughter's head FREQUENTLY and guess what it is still "fine as frog's hair" as my sister in law would say. ( ok, I made that last part up : ) But, she did it several times to my poor little neice and it looked pitiful and never thickened up any. Most babies have very fine hair anyway. My poor son had bald patches and eventually , a comb over like an old man, but by the time he was 18 mos, he had beautiful, soft strawberry blonde hair and lots of it.

What kind of people are you hanging out with? No offense, but sounds pretty out there to me. I would leave her perfect little head alone, and get new friends.

My Mother followed that theory and I spent my childhood looking like a boy only to discover that thirty years later my hair is exactly the same!!!
People keep telling me to shave my 6mth old baby"s head,so her hair goes thick..has anyone done this before?
Do NOT shave your babys head!!! No this does not work. Hair only gets thick and nappy and you have to shave it constantly. Let your babys hair fall out and come back. After it has grown back you will get a better idea of what type of hair your baby will have.

Don't do it and don't listen to those silly people who tell you otherwise.
Call social services and ask them what they think. You will get a truthful and wise answer from them.
